Here is a good training aid. A Kettlebells Sport Training Program Generator for biathlon. It is great for creating a good set/rep/weight progression. It has an accent on lockouts, which makes it good for competitors. Just click in your equipment, level, and progression rate and voilà!

Some of Ryhti's lifters are using the same system in long cycle. They just substitute jerk to long cycle and set snatch goal to very moderate, sustaining level. In a few months we'll see how they progress.
I have personally found a quite lot of short intervals on long cycle most beneficial.
