A first aim is to teach the kettlebell sport lifts so people can use these lifts more in their other training. As soon as you get the basics these are great lifts that deserve to be used more widely. Hmm... if you read this blog you probably knew this already :-).
A second aim is to give more people the opportunity to test to compete with kettlebells. That is only for those who wants, of course, and in either way there is no hurry to decide on that. It would be nice to bring a little Bunker team to next year's Uddevalla Open though.
The group was very positive and nice. They already had good swings from their other training at the Bunker so we could jump on to rack, clean, and jerk. These are complex lifts, but the group made great progress.
We also talked a bit about the fact that these initial sessions are techniqe focused; there will be a lots of strength and endurance as soon as the basics are there.
I look forward to the nex session.
Memory notes
Push-press with fixometer, 2x20kg: 50
OA Push-press 32kg: 6/6
Pull-ups: 5x 6reps (varied grips)
Push-ups on kb-handles: 3x 10reps
Have som soreness in left achilles tendon so I decided to do push-press to give the ankle some rest. Interesting lift, it became a lot about triceps endurance for me. The second dip helps a lot. My OA jerk max with 32kg is 19, or 20 reps, per arm. With push-press it is only 6reps.
