Hi again!

This blog has been quiet last weeks. A friend reminded me it was actually three weeks... one week ago :-).

I have been training on, but have done nothing consistent with kettlebells.

The background is the pain/spasm in the right trapezius and then some irritation of the sterno-clavicular joint (where the collar bone attaches to the rib cage, in the middle of the chest). The latter is more or less pain free, but there is a visible swelling. It is rare to hurt the sterno-clavicular joint and when it happens it is usually violent trauma such as car crashes and such.

My physical therapist suggested changed movement patterns which seems plausible.

Anyway, last weeks has been much about trying to find out what exercizes causes this irritation. "Felsökning" as as Thomas J termed it :-).

Hence, I have tried with eleminating overhead lifting for a while and see what happens. Then, I tried to eliminate deadlifts and bench (while returning to overhead lifting with kettlebells).

As there is little pain, and no sudden pains while lifting, it is hard to pinpoint what it is all about. It is more like I have to watch my chest the day after training and see what happened.

Anyway, I have been running a bit more, done a little long cycle, some barbell lifts and feel in good shape. I will start blogging again. One has to start somewhere.

Training last days

Wedensday
Running with heart rate meter ca 5km (75-85% of max HR)
Triceps extensions w black band

Friday
LC 2x24kg; 5,5
Jerk 2x28kg: 10

"Black lc 2x24kg": 2 x 3 min

DL (deadlift) 108kg+black band: 3x 3 reps (very fun, different feel)

Black LC with Anasenko. I got the idea from 'Wild Bill' (thanks!). I want to get to 5 minutes w 24s. I don't understand why I find this so hard compared to "ordinary" long cycle.

Sunday
DL 110 kg: 6
DL 120kg: 3
DL 130kg: 3
DL 140kg: 1
DL 145kg: 1 (PR)

Bench press 60kg: 2x 10 reps (trying out)
Biceps curl 10kg+blue band: 3x 7reps
Triceps extensions with cable: 3 sets

I got some more rubber bands from Pullum a couple of weeks ago.
Afternoon run: ca 5km

Good stuff from Finland
The Finnish kettlebell championships took place last weekend. Very good number of competitors and results (LINK). Among other things, five strong lifters with 32kgs.

Thanks! It is a nice lift, next goal is 150kg, and depending on how the body feel 2x body weight further ahead.
