Uddevalla Long Cycle Open 2014: fourth year
Sweden's oldest re-occuring GS-competition celebrated it fourth anniversary yesterday.
As always, it was a great event and quite international. Among the 20 and something lifters, there was one Norwegian, and one Finnish team.
UKC (as well as participating lifters) are getting more and more routine regarding how to arrange a competition, what are the rules, warm-up etc, etc... So it run smooth.
There were several PRs and really good sets all-over. A great way to spend a Saturday.
My contribution
My plan was to lift 28s, still I changed my mind and choose 24s instead. For being me it was an ok set and a competition PR of 61reps. Now, I am seriously fed up with LC :-). I will train biathlon only for at least two months before getting in LC-shape for veteran class Championship in Lyon in June.

Uddevalla Open 2012 Long cycle competition
Saturday
The competition in Uddevalla went great (LINK). There were twenty lifters; 15gents, and 5 ladies. We had 6 international lifters, three from Finland and three from Denmark. And, the Stockholm team came with their coach Denis Vasiliev. Yes, the Russian world champion in long cycle.
We had good platforms and computors for counting reps. The results are not compilated yet, but you will see some very good numbers and hard work in all categories. I am an exception though, I got some kind of spasm in my right trapezius and stopped at 22. It is an old injury and I did not want to upset it. With some stretching, I'm feeling ok again.
A really fun day.
I am seriously considering to go to the Örebro comp the 31st of March (LINK) for some more.
This video is a demonstration, Denis did not compete:
This video shows some nice lifters and has good fotage:
Monday
AM:
Deadlift 110kg: 5x 5reps
Bench press 70kg: 5x 6 reps
Triceps extensions
Light biceps curls
Stretching
PM:
Snatch 20kg: 10 min, free hand changes, cool tempo ("SSST")
SC jerk 2x20kg: 10
First snatches in a while, just wanted to ease in on them. I like to train snatch outdoors, so this is a preparation for the warmer season. Movements were a bit tight on the left side, less back-swing etc. but not hopeless.

Gym, Uddevalla Open
Dead-lift 100kg: 3x 8reps
Bench press 50kg: 10reps
Bench press 70kg: 3x 6reps
Triceps extensions: 3x 10reps
Some light biceps curl
Stretching
An ordinary gym day. Starting over a dl cycle from light.
As you have noted I am not training for the Uddevalla LC Open competition next weekend (LINK). Still, I will compete, judge and meet nice people.
Anyway, since the competition date was decided I never found the motivation to start a period of competition training. And, around New Year I decided not to prepare specifically for this competition. I preferred to continue towards my goal of doing a nice set with 28kgs.
Well, to put it short, if I would have prepared for the Uddevalla Open I would have lifted a lot more 20 and 24kgs with a focus on rep cadence. Even if there will be no personal records, I will have a great competition day anyway.

The Rules for Uddevalla Open LC Competition March 3d 2012 (Swe)
The rules for the Uddevalla Open LC Competition March 3d 2012 are now found at UKC home page:
http://uddevallakettlebells.webs.com/uaopenlongcycle.htm
As you see, it is all standard rules, IUKL-style as concerns the lifts. There are some alterations regarding lifters' categories - e.g. you can compete with 20kg bells as a man.
But, if you don't read Swedish and have any questions, just mail your queries to the club, or the comments' field here.

Uddevalla Open 2012 Long cycle competition
The follower of last March´s successfull long cycle competition in Uddevalla is now scheduled to the 3d of March 2012.
Here is a link to a Facebook group where you find more info on registering, competition categories and such: LINK.
Please, note that this is an open competition and also lifters from outside Sweden are welcome. Last year we had a great Finnish team visiting, and a great time.
I also hope that many of the good lifters from the Swedish IKSFA Championship have the time to come and compete.
Here is a movie about the 2011 competition made by one of the members of the Finnish team: LINK.
